• the role and importance of environmental geography in science,
• the environment as a system/ecosystem,
• characteristics and environmental impacts of energy transformations and flows,
• human disturbance of biogeochemical cycles, the importance of ecosystem services and the role of succession in maintaining the natural equilibrium,
• driving forces of environmental change,
• environmental impacts of selected human activities (agriculture, energy use, industry, transport, tourism, etc.)
• state of the environment as a result of pollution/pressures on the environment, the self-cleaning capacities of the environment and society’s responses to environmental problems: atmosphere (climate change, ozone depletion, air quality), hydrosphere (water availability and quality), waste, pedo- and biosphere (biodiversity, protected areas),
• major environmental problems in Slovenia, Europe and the world.
