Awareness of the wholeness of language functioning will connect questions concerning the joint functioning of grammar and lexicon. Regarding lexicon, the emphasis will be on lexical descriptions that are left out by traditional linguistic descriptions because they belong neither to the level of lexical descriptions based on expressive and semantic lexicon definitions, nor to the field of traditional grammar, which was interested in grammatical patterns and not their concrete realisation in texts. This approach especially makes sense from the viewpoint of translation processes because at a lexical level it facilitates identification of translation units.
