Constants in the development of the Slovene literary language norm. Within this, the understanding of Slovene linguistic manuals. A clear relationship between linguistic description as a linguistic activity and prescription as a non-linguistic activity is established. The plurality of methodological approaches in linguistics and their (seeming) non-plurality in Slovene linguistics is presented.

Special emphasis is put on modern language resources and tools for Slovene forming the basic infrastructure for translators’ work.
