Introduction to the Japanese avant-garde art with emphasis on the Sogetsu Art Movement, which is crucial for the further development of Japanese music as well as other arts.
Characteristics of the Sogetsu Art Movement; the students learn about the works which were created at the Sogetsu Art Center, the main venue of the Sogetsu Art Movement: film music, graphic scores, and »happenings«, etc., all done in collaboration with today famous Japanese artist such as composer Toru Takemitsu, director of the Center and film director Hiroshi Teshigahara, playwright Kobo Abe, cartoonist Yoji Kuri, graphic designer Kohei Sugiura itd.
