Language and Culture

The main objective of the course is to explore the many ways in which language expresses the cultural identity of its speakers, focusing on the following topics: different views on linguistic determinism and linguistic relativity; language typology and language universals; structural similarities and differences among the languages of the world; and languages and cultures in contact.
